I will never forget today, like how I will never forget the 3rd of April. (the day I went for the operation)
Today is the day I remove all the rubber bands impeding my speech and the piece of plastic guiding my bite.
How to start.
The very beginning of course!
So today I woke up and I was feeling really tired from College Play yesterday as I stayed in school all the way till 10.30pm and got home and did some work and slept after midnight. I could barely open my eyes and I didn't feel like getting up from bed but then I remember that TODAY IS THE DAY and I jumped out of bed because TODAY IS THE DAY I 'regain' my speech ability to eat. LOL. I sound handicapped.
So that is the start and throughout the day I just felt damn happy. HAHA. Who won't. And all my friends make me feel even more excited about it. I'm so glad that I have to go to school cause I'm surrounded by so many friends who care and cooutdown together with me HAHA. All the RP peeps too who were extremely fasinated by the very fact that I still exist after not talking nor eating proper food for so long. HAHA.
Anyway after school I flew to NUH. And I was early. They were still having lunch so the whole clinic was dimly lit. And I went over to check if Dr Boey is in and she was! Eating chocolates with her friend. Ah, the temptation. Eventually, I ended up on the dentist's chair and Intek and Dr Boey was bending over and looking at my teeth. I just find it really amusing that dentists have to stare at people's teeth and when they bend over you, you feel intimidated and frighten. That's why I always close my eyes when they start working on my teeth and I just pretend that I'm not there. HAHA.
So Intek started removing the rubber bands, one by one. And when he's done, he said: Angie, you can open your jaws now, slowly... And I did and it's all over. Just like that. The rubber bands and the plastic sheet were damn damn damn dirty. Like YUCK. And my mouth and teeth too. YUCK YUCK. Then Dr Boey did some cleaning and she changed the wires and taught me how to put a rubber band through 4 hooks so that it forms an 'N' shape. Damn cool.
I then went to this foodcourt while I wait for my Dad and I bought FOOD. HAHA. The first thing I bought was Ice Lemon Tea. HAHA as I couldn't decide what I should eat. I called my mum and she was damn excited too and when my sister picked up the phone she was like: Who are you? LOL. I am Angie!!! Yeah. I can talkkkkkk. So I talked to this 2 malay vendors and I bought carrot cake and curry puffs from their stall. And I bought a papaya too. What a feast HAHA. So I sat down and started drinkning my Ice Lemon Tea. Then I realised that I'm drinking it in the way I used to when I still have rubber bands ie when I had to close my jaws together (they are already together) and suck. HAHA. Shit, I'm too used to it. Then when I out the straw inbetween the 2 rows of my teeth, I felt... weird.
Yes, I don't feel like myself when I eat. It's a new feeling after 1 month of not using my mouth and teeth and jaws. I need to do some jaw exercise as Rae says. HAHA. My mouth feels numb too and my chin is definitely still numb. I'm still on the road of recovery, still got a long way to go but I can say that the toughest part of the journey is over and I survived on campbell soup and Ensure milk and I think one reason that I am so okay is because of all the love and care and concern from my family and friends and teachers and doctors and nurses and even the receptionists. Intek says I'm like a star when I go for check-ups cause all the nurses know me. HAHA. And they will talk to me and gossip a lot. LOL.
Alright mann!
=DDD
