Thank you God. I can never thank You enough.
Reading my past blog entries (procrastinating) have made me reflect on the past and I realise how far I have come. It's wonderful to look back and see God's hand in it all. How I was once a non-believer and how my faith blossomed in London and how in awe I am of this love and grace which comes freely. Coming to London has really changed me. I have grew so much in a short span of 2 years. Was just chatting with friends today about how coming to London really made me appreciate nature more. I look up to the sky more often, fascinated, by the intensity of colour and the volume that it speaks to my heart. I appreciate the sun when it's out and even on cold gloomy days I feel a sense of real peace and stillness within me. The flowers are more beautiful here and they really make it stop and smell and just soak in God's goodness. Nature has revealed God to me. How amazing it will be when all creation sing His praise when Jesus comes again! And we will all be singing together forever and that really struck me as well.
Forever.
This concept of time and space has always been on my mind. As a non believer, I have always been stingy with my time. I think it is Mine and I Own it. I still do at times, I find myself rushing about too much. Doing things that will add to this world but what's beyond? I have learnt the difference between spending an hour working and an hour talking to someone, building relationships. At the end of the day, when you are on your death bed, it is the people around you that matter. It is the relationships you have that counts. And it's not how much money you earn, the type of car you drive, the house you live in. Nothing matters. And sometimes it is hard to find a balance. I thank God that He has taught me how to redeem my time and use it wisely and for His glory.
This exam has been the hardest one I have been through in my short 20years of life. And it is also a very very different one because of the strong sense of peace and security and comfort I have which can only come from the Holy Spirit. I thank God for bringing my household together for allowing us to come together as strangers and to grow as a family throughout this entire year and to really come together and seek God in all that we do. It is a real privilege to be able to pray with my housemates and to support each other and to grow in Christ together. There is no greater joy. It amazes me yet again how God can bring people into our lives who will leave a mark and it will be eternal because we will see each other one day in heaven!
This year has also been a year of discovery about love. God's love. Unconditional. Unfailing. Overwhelming. Unreserved. Undeserved. The greatest commandment of all is to love God with all your soul and all your mind and all heart. And I am really beginning to understand that Love is God and God is love. And how the trinity is sustained by love. And how the human love is so weak in comparison and so mis-represented. When a human says: I love chocolate cake. What he/ she really means is: I want to eat you chocolate cake! How often do we think we love something when ultimately we are destroying it? Being in a relationship has also taught me so so much. Again I can only thank God, although thanking Him seems feeble to the emotions and heartful gratitude I would like to express! It is awesome to grow in Christ with Janis and to focus on Jesus together. I have learnt that love is about seeking the good of the other person. I have much to learn still! God, please teach me how to love the people around me more.
